Kieren finds the strength to shed his contact lenses and cover-up mousse in public for the first time. However, he's wrongly accused of freeing the rabids at the GP surgery and hauled in front of the increasingly tyrannical parish council. The council places Kieren under house arrest, threatening to send him back to the Norfolk Treatment Centre if he doesn't confess. Disappointed by his parents' reaction, Kieren seeks out Simon and is floored to discover he has disappeared.
Meanwhile, we follow Simon to the city. We flashback to his horrific experiences in and outside the treatment centre, learning how he was radicalized and became the Undead Prophet's final and most beloved disciple. When the Undead Prophet tells Simon he must sacrifice Kieren to instigate the Second Rising, his faith is rocked for the first time. However, he returns to Roarton grimly resolved to carry out his mission.
Having left Roarton Simon meets another disciple, Julian who plays him a video that reveals the Undead Prophet's plan to sacrifice Kieren to initiate the Second Rising. Upon watching this Simon appears uneasy about the plan and after Julian leaves has a flashback to where he is trapped in a lab of sorts with Victor Halperin and John Weston.
Back at Roarton a local passed flyers around, including the Walker home as a warning of signs that a PDS Sufferer is turning rabid.
Upstairs Kieren picks up his cover mousse however quickly decides against it as well as wearing the conacts. As he goes downstairs to his family they are uncomfortable with him there, Steve being shocked and Jem too as she leaves shortly after. Suddenly a knock is heard on the door--Dean announces that Kieren is under arrest for the rabids being let loose at the Roarton Medical Centre. Sue protests but Dean denies her as they were Maxine's orders. Meanwhile Steve isn't reluctant to let them take Kieren away as Sue sits back down disappointed in Steve not sticking up for Kieren.
At a phone booth, Maxine rings an unknown person and pleads to talk and give her some time however they hang up leaving Maxine frustrated. Meanwhile at Philip's, he wakes up only to find Amy gone, which leaves him disappointed, although it was actually Amy going to have her dose of Neurotriptyline.
At the council, Kieren is told that he and Simon are guilty of freeing the rabids being freed, and is told that he would be sent back to Norfolk as a breach of his terms which include endangering the community. He is told to record a confession, but instead shouts he didn't do it and smashes the recorder on the floor.
