Charlotte like her friends are in Jem's class which discuss the Rising, after Jem's reveal she was a member of the HVF she and her friends invited her to sit with them at lunch.
At lunch she sits with Jem, listening to stories of Jem's activities during the Rising. As Henry approaches the table he asks Jem to be his show and tell partner, only for Charlottle to delcare that she is Jems partner.

Having her father risen as a PDS sufferer she is convinced that he was killed by Jem, making her angry as she blames her for her father's (second) death.
Charlotte also cares for her mother, showing she is independant as while her father is dead she continues to look after herself and her mother.

Since her father's death and second one after he'd risen this drastically changed her mother to seal herself off from the world, including her daughter. Charlotte cares for her mother but doesn't seem to have a good relationship due to her mother's bedridden unresponsive state.
